Christmas in Tokyo - Day One

We had a whirlwind four day trip to Tokyo and it was fabulous to be in cold weather for a change!!It actually didn't feel as cold as I thought it would since we came from the tropics. The warmest day was about 60 and the coldest it got was about mid-30's at night. It was wonderful!!

We tried to make the most of our time there while also working around nap times and trying to give Gavin a break from the carrier when we could.

Peekaboo

Gavin was great on the plane! When he wasn't sleeping, he was entertaining himself by flirting with the people behind us or on either side of us...or playing peekaboo with me! One of our flight attendant's LOVED him and kept coming back to visit him during the 3.5 hour flight. When we were getting ready to get off the plane, she asked to hold him while we were gathering our things. Gavin loved it!

Our first sightseeing stop was the Meiji Jingu Shrine. It's in a beautiful park with trees that are around 100 years old, so it made for a very nice walk! Photography of the shrine itself is not allowed but here are some pictures of the surrounding area and buildings.

We stopped at a nearby restaurant for sushi and Gavin was flirting with this waitress the whole time. So we took their picture!

Back in the hotel room, we were trying to keep Gavin awake so that we could go see one of the illuminations in a nearby neighborhood. Always fun being goofy!

Then we headed out to the illumination display! It was really pretty with lots of trees decorated on the walk to the main event. Gavin was enthralled!!

Before heading back to the hotel, we stopped at a pizza/pasta place for a quick dinner and Gavin made more friends!! Flirting with the waitress and the other patrons in the restaurant!
