Homecoming

The USS Topeka has finally made it to her new home port in Guam!! For those of you who have not seen the updates on Facebook, the boat came in on Friday, May 29th. A few of us drove out to one of the beaches to watch as she pulled into Apra Harbor.

Then we made our way over to the pier where the Topeka would pull in and we would finally get to see our boys!







They had a band playing patriotic music and the squadron men were all lined up to honor the men on the Topeka.

It took awhile for the boat to make her way to the pier. Several of the crew were able to be topside for the arrival so their families could see them as the boat pulled in to the pier. It was great to see them all lined up on top of the submarine as they were making their way to the pier.

Once most of the men had disembarked from the boat, they lined up on the pier for some of the crew to be given awards.

Carlton had to wait for someone to relieve him before he could come topside...but he also had to wait for his uniform. He did not know that he was supposed to pack his whites when he went to meet the boat, so I had to bring his uniform down to the pier to give to one of his crew to take to him. So after everyone else had greeted their husbands and many had already left, Carlton FINALLY made his way topside to say hi!

It is wonderful to have him home!!
