Day One

Apparently we timed it right when we landed on Guam in the evening. After sleeping for about 9 hours, we woke up around 7am and were ready to start our day! The first order of the day was for Carlton to check into his new squadron so that we could get housing. 

I was under the impression that this would be fairly easy. I knew there was a chance we might have to be put onto a waiting list but I didn't know how likely that was until we talked to housing. Well, they did have two places available at Nimitz Hill which used to be known for being a nice place for the senior service members....however that was during World War II. Now these places are rundown and tiny! We are not the only ones to think so either....the two places on Nimitz Hill have been available for a few months now and have been turned down by many other families who preferred to wait for another housing area rather than live there.

So we are currently trying to decide between two neighborhoods for our housing. Whichever one we pick will require waiting for a minimum of one month. So now we need to find temporary housing that is fully furnished so that we can be a bit more comfortable. Our hotel room is adequate but fairly small, no cooking facilities, and they do not allow dogs. Bubbles is ready to be picked up from the boarding facility and we would prefer to have her in a place with us rather than continuing to pay for boarding at the kennel.

Speaking of Bubbles, we went to visit her yesterday and she appears to have weathered her travels just fine! She was ecstatic to see us (no surprise there) and we got to play with her for awhile and spend time with her. She was definitely ready to leave with us, so we are hoping to have a place soon!

We did some exploring around the base yesterday as the day was ending and so I got a couple pictures of the beautiful sunset at Gab Gab Beach!
